As we are slowly narrowing down our guest list, it's getting harder and harder for us to stick with a few customary wedding etiquette... particularly the one that gives guests the option of bringing a +1. We simply cannot accommodate it.

For one thing, we literally don't have room for dates. Our venue can literally only fit 80 people and we have 80 people we actually know and want to invite. Why cut the guest list in half so people can bring strangers in if we can actually have a room full of people we know and love? Not only that, since we are on such a tight budget, we really can't justify paying for our cousin's "flav-of-the-week"'s meal.

Now don't get me wrong, we're not really extremely strict about this no +1 rule. If there are guests who have serious significant others who we've at least met, they're more than welcome to come*. It's just the "fluff" that we don't have room for. Does this make us bad people?

How did you narrow down your guest list to fit everyone you love?



* Even though, I admit, one of the significant others I'm obligated to invite is someone I have to restrain myself from castrating and throwing his balls right back into his poutine for him to eat... but I guess we can't win every time...
